We Believe
Theological beliefs are critical to maintaining the focus of our ministry and establishing the truths by which our ministry operates. Man Stuff Ministry was created by our Father, in Jesus’s name, to be led by the Holy Spirit according to the following beliefs:
SCRIPTURE There are sixty-six books in the Bible. Their original texts are the inerrant, infallible word of God, trustworthy in all its teachings. Scripture is the self-revelation of God, the Creator, to His creation (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 1 Peter 1:20-21).
GOD God reveals Himself to be Triune in nature. He is One God who exists in three distinct persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:1-4, Ephesians 3:18, Galatians 4:1-7). While each Member of the godhead loves each other and each created person, each Member engages in specific works in the lives of men. These roles allow men to cultivate intimacy with each Person of the triune. In summary,
- God the Father protects, adopts, provides, and directs lives according to His will (Matthew 6:25-33, Matthew 7:11, Matthew 26:36-46, Galatians 4:1-7, James 1:17).
- God the Son, Jesus, is King, Messiah, Lamb, Shepherd, and Victor (John 1:1, John 1:14, John 1:29, John 18:33-38, Revelation 19:11-16).
- God the Holy Spirit is our Comforter, Counselor, Advocate, Healer, Wisdom, Knowledge, gift-giver, transformer, and source of power (John 15:26-27, Acts 1:7-8, Ephesians 1:13-14 Isaiah 11:2).
WAR
We believe that Satan is a fallen angel, formerly known as Lucifer, who has assembled a demonic army of other fallen angels to wage war against God and creation (Isaiah 14:3-21, Ezekiel 28:1-19, Revelation 12:7-12). A spiritual war exists between God’s Kingdom of Light and Satan’s Kingdom of Darkness. While the Kingdom of God is far superior and more powerful than the Kingdom of Darkness, Satan and his army have dominion on earth and wreak havoc in mankind (Revelation 13:1-20:15). With respect to Satan’s work in Christians, while he cannot take a child of God’s eternal life, he certainly can steal or destroy their abundant life (John 10:10, 1 Peter 5:6-11).
MANKIND
The Triune God created Adam and Eve, the first humans, after their likeness and in their image. Mankind is the unique image bearers of the living God in all of creation. Both male and female equally manifest similar and distinct attributes of God (Genesis 1:26-27, 2:21-25). God bestowed authority on mankind to faithfully tend Earth (Genesis 1:27:28). Unfortunately, Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, disobeying God’s command (Genesis 2:4-3:24). Their sin broke intimacy with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Genesis 3:22-24, Isaiah 59:1-2, Romans 3:23); required payment (Hebrews 10:10, 1 Peter 3:18); surrendered authority over creation to Satan (John 16:11, 1 John 5:19); and destined future mankind to be born into sin, separated from their Creator, living in a war between the Kingdom of God and the domain of Satan. Because of separation, sin, and the war, mankind experiences all varieties of pain, suffering, disease, sickness, and instability (Deuteronomy 28:58-68, Matthew 7:24-27, John 10:10a, Romans 8:18-25).
SALVATION
Salvation is God’s love offer of restoration, victory, and eternal life accomplished through Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. In the fullness of time, God our Father sent Jesus, His Son, full of the Holy Spirit, to bear the consequences of man’s sins by being crucified on a cross. Not only did Jesus’s ministry overcome sin, He also defeated Satan and re-established His Father’s Kingdom on Earth (Isaiah 61:1-3, Mark 1:14-15, Galatians 4:1-7, 1 John 4:9-10).Three days after His crucifixion, Jesus was resurrected from the dead (Matthew 28:1-15). Forty days after His resurrection and appearing to many different people, Jesus ascended through the clouds to the heavenly places, where He was enthroned at the right hand of His Father (Acts 1:9-11, Hebrews 1:1-4).Men and women are freed from the curse of sin by repenting of their old ways of life and confessing Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Upon their confession, the individual is forgiven, indwelled and sealed by the Holy Spirit, delivered from the Kingdom of Darkness into Light, and adopted into the family of the Father as a son or daughter. Intimacy is restored (Mark 2:1-11, John 1:12-13, John 3:1-8, Ephesians 1:11-12, Colossians 1:13-14).Salvation offers all people the opportunity to enter a life where they will be perfectly loved by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (1 John 4:16-17).
SANCTIFICATION
Sanctification is the life-long process of becoming the person God our Father created you to be. Sanctification happens as we work together with the Holy Spirit to be transformed in all ways into the image of Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:16-18). Sanctification is:
- In the overflow of love so that one learns to love oneself well (Matthew 22:34-40, Ephesians 5:1-2, 1 John 4:7-21).
- Spirit-empowered. We are to live and walk in the Spirit not the flesh. (Romans 8:1-17, Galatians 5:25).
- Spiritual disciplines meditating on all things that are just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy according to the Word of God (Matthew 6:1, Philippians 4:8-9).
- Christ lives in us and we live by faith (Galatians 2:20).
THE CHURCH
Local churches, birthed and sustained by God in the truth of His Word and leading of His Spirit, are Kingdom outposts of Christians. Healthy churches will have the following in increasing measures: love, praise and worship, healing, equipping the body to disciple and mentor other believers, family, discipline, giving, serving, missions, and disciple-making (Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 15:40-41, every New Testament book written to a church, Revelation 2:1-3:22).
DISCIPLE-MAKING
Every follower of Jesus is called to go and make disciples of others. Effective disciple-making happens in the overflow of a full life in Trinitarian love. The Lord is our shepherd and leads us and guides us. Jesus has all authority in heave and on earth, He calls us to make disciples of all nations, baptize them and teach them to observe all things commanded to us. As disciples make disciples, generations of people have the opportunity to walk in the love of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Psalm 23:1, Matthew 28:18-20).
THE END
In the fullness of time, God our Father will send Jesus to return and finish the war. Sin will be eradicated. Satan and his demonic army will be bound in hell for eternity. Every person will face God the Father at the throne of judgment. Those whose have trusted in Jesus and lived by faith in the leading of the Holy Spirit will experience eternity in the New Heavens and New Earth that God will create on the last day. Those who have rejected God in all the ways He has sought to reach every person, will spend eternity alone, experiencing God’s wrath in Hell (Isaiah 65:17, Matthew 24:1-31, 2 Peter 3:10-13, Revelation 18:1-22:21).
